ROCK AND A HARD PLACE

Counselling for Adults, Children and Young People

It can be scary and nerve wracking taking that first step towards counselling. The most important thing to remember is that there is no judgement. Sue offers kindness, compassion and understanding, whatever your issue, working collectively to implement positive changes in your life.

Counselling can help whether you are feeling slightly anxious or whether they are feeling like there is no hope for the future. Arrange a FREE initial 30 minute meeting to decide whether you feel you would like to work with me. .

MY APPROACH

There is no fixed process. Everyone is different and I use my experience and knowledge to find a process that will work for you and to address your particular needs. The pain you are going through is often the result of an unfortunate set of life experiences. I never judge you. My role is to help you move forward.

There are common practices that I always demonstrate:

  • A discussion at the outset of what changes you would like to make and how you would like to feel in the future

  • Exploring with you the life experiences that have led you to this point

  • Working together to facilitate you moving forward

  • Challenging unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviours that are preventing you from living the life you want

  • Empowering you with the tools to make the changes you want

You may feel nervous about what’s ahead, but once we start to talk you'll soon discover that it’s sometimes easier talking to me than the people close to you.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

"I started seeing Sue having decided to try to do something about my anxiety and depression. Although I will always have an anxious disposition, thanks to Sue I now recognise the signs of disproportionate worry and understand what triggers it and how to head it off. I feel a part of life in a way that wasn't possible before and I am incredibly grateful to Sue for helping me find my own resources to cope with life's challenges."
