I'm Sue Cook. I am married with three grown up children. I spent several years as a single parent before meeting the man I’m now married to. I’ve had tough times and I’ve had good times – like most people.
The counselling approach that I am trained in is called Person Centred and as the name suggests it places great importance on the client being the expert in their own life and the counselling working with them to understand what they are experiencing and to find a way to bring about the changes the client wants.
I have also trained in CBT which seeks to change the way people think about certain things. This can be very effective when working with phobias. I have also completed training in solution focused therapy and working with families.
I have a Masters in Counselling Psychology and I also work for Teens in Crisis.
Although my specialism is working with children and young people I also work with adults, couples, families and groups. I am able to work with a wide range of issues.
